Erzsébet Patek was born a hundred years ago, on 26 June, 1918 and became a central figure of 20th century Hungarian topography and archeology.

At the beginning of her scientific career she studied Roman archeology, later her interest turned to prehistoric archeology, especially to the Late Bronze Age and Iron Age. She has made some fundamental new achievements in the field of examining the Urnfield and Hallstatt cultures in Hungary. Her excavations of the Bakonyszűcs tumulus or Neszmély cemetery and settlement complex and her investigations in the cemetery at Mezőcsát-Hörcsögös (1958-1962) and at the fortified settlement and cemetery of Sopron-Burgstall (1972-1978) is of particular interest.

During the conference we remember the work of Erzsébet Patek work through the lectures of invited researchers presenting the most recent results in topography, Late Bronze Age, Early Iron Age and Roman archaeology.
